Our Story
A community of faith rooted in the ancient Syrian Orthodox tradition, growing together in Tampa.
Who We Are
A Home for the Faithful
We are a close-knit community of South Indian Malayalee families in the Tampa Bay area, united under the jurisdiction of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church of North America. Our parish first opened its doors in 1988 under the leadership of Rev. Father George Abraham, with a simple mission: to provide a spiritual home for our community far from home.
Named after St. Gregorios of Parumala, the first canonized saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church, we carry forward a tradition of faith that traces its roots to the Apostle St. Thomas, who arrived on the shores of India in 52 AD.
We welcome everyone with open arms — regardless of denomination or background. Our prayer is for spiritual strength, our preaching for inspiration, our worship to draw closer to God, and our fellowship to encourage respect and love for one another.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life." — John 3:16

Parumala Thirumeni
1848–1902 · Feast Day: November 2
Our church is dedicated and named after St. Gregorios of Parumala, an Indian religious leader and the first canonized saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church. Known lovingly as Parumala Thirumeni, his life was a testament to unwavering faith, ascetic discipline, and deep compassion.
Ordained a deacon at ten, consecrated the youngest bishop at twenty-eight, and proclaimed a saint after his passing in 1902 — his journey from Mulanthuruthy to Parumala inspires thousands of pilgrims to this day.
"Prayer brings truth, religious faith, honesty and respect among the people." — St. Gregorios of Parumala
